Huntsville City Schools (HCS) is proud to congratulate several schools on being named to the 2025 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll. This national recognition highlights schools whose AP programs are delivering strong academic results while expanding access and opportunity for students.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to building a strong college-going culture, increasing student participation in AP coursework, and supporting college readiness. Schools earn Honor Roll recognition annually based on performance and participation criteria established by the College Board. The AP School Honor Roll includes four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
For 2025, the following Huntsville City Schools were recognized on the AP School Honor Roll:
New Century Technology High School – Platinum
Huntsville High School – Gold
Grissom High School – Silver
Students who participate in AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college, persist through graduation, and feel prepared for college-level work. Even for students who do not earn college credit, AP coursework helps establish high expectations and fosters a strong college-going culture across the school community.
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) allows students to engage in college-level studies while still in high school, with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both. AP courses span numerous subject areas, each culminating in a rigorous exam designed to develop critical thinking, analytical writing, and problem-solving skills. Research shows that students who score a three or higher on an AP Exam are more likely to succeed academically in college and earn a college degree than their peers.
AP School Honor Roll recognition reflects a true team effort involving teachers, counselors, administrators, students, and families. HCS is proud to celebrate this achievement and recognizes the dedication and hard work that made these honors possible.
