Eight Huntsville City Schools have been selected to receive the AMSTI Robotics Grant from the Alabama State Department of Education, expanding opportunities for students to engage in hands-on robotics, coding, and engineering experiences.
The grant will provide participating schools with robotics equipment, coding devices, and instructional resources to support robotics teams and STEM learning. Students will have the opportunity to design, build, and program robots while developing critical skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and computational thinking. The grant also supports opportunities for students to participate in robotics competitions and apply their coding and engineering skills in real-world challenges.
Schools Selected:
Artemis Virtual Academy
Chapman Middle
Grissom High
James I. Dawson Elementary
Lakewood Elementary
Monte Sano Elementary
Morris Elementary
Weatherly Heights Elementary
This investment strengthens Huntsville City Schools’ commitment to preparing students for future STEM careers by providing meaningful opportunities to explore coding, engineering, and advanced technologies beginning at an early age. As Huntsville continues to grow as a hub for aerospace, engineering, and technology, programs like robotics help ensure students develop the skills needed to thrive in these high-demand fields.
By expanding robotics opportunities across elementary, middle, and high school levels, Huntsville City Schools is also building a strong pipeline of students who are prepared to excel in STEM extracurricular programs, competitions, and advanced coursework. These experiences not only spark student interest in STEM but also position the district as a competitive leader in robotics, innovation, and hands-on learning.
