Lee High School's Creative and Performing Arts Magnet has earned national recognition for the strength and quality of its magnet program by receiving Nationally Certified Magnet School status from Magnet Schools of America (MSA).

The designation recognizes Lee's commitment to providing students with high-quality, innovative learning opportunities through its Creative and Performing Arts Magnet while promoting academic excellence, student choice and strong community partnerships.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, faculty, staff, families and community partners who make Lee such a special place,” said Lee High School Principal Kitrise Torain. “Our Creative and Performing Arts Magnet gives students the opportunity to discover their talents, strengthen their skills and pursue excellence while receiving a strong academic foundation. We are incredibly proud to see that work recognized nationally.”

Lee High’s Creative and Performing Arts Magnet provides students with specialized instruction and experiences through four magnet conservatories:

  • Dance Arts

  • Musical Arts: Instrumental Performance and Vocal Performance

  • Theatrical Arts: Theatre Performance and Technical Theatre

  • Creative Arts: Creative Writing, Film & Video, Photography and Visual Arts

Magnet Schools of America announced Lee among 40 schools nationwide earning Nationally Certified status in its latest certification cohort. Lee's certification is valid through August 2030.

Schools seeking national certification undergo a rigorous evaluation based on MSA’s Magnet School Standards of Excellence and the five pillars of magnet schools. The process examines areas including innovative curriculum and professional development, academic excellence, family and community partnerships, diversity and efforts to eliminate barriers to student success.

Magnet Schools of America launched its national certification program in 2016 to recognize exemplary magnet programs and provide schools with a framework for continued growth and improvement.

“We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our newly Nationally Certified magnet schools,” said Ramin Taheri, CEO of Magnet Schools of America. “As the only organization that certifies magnet schools, MSA sets a rigorous, magnet-specific standard of excellence that recognizes schools for embodying the core principles of magnet and theme-based education.”

With the latest cohort, 337 schools across the country have earned national certification through Magnet Schools of America.
