The Schools Foundation, in partnership with the Space Club, are awarding scholarships to two teachers to pursue National Board Certification!

These educators include Christine King from New Century Technology High and Julie Dombrowski from Huntsville High.

Congratulations to Arlandra Wheeler on being board approved as the new principal of Providence Elementary! 🎉

She comes to Providence after serving as assistant principal at McNair Junior High.

✨ Highlights from our recent Huntsville City Schools Board of Education meeting!

📚 Jeanne Greer, Executive Director of The Schools Foundation, and John Allen, CEO of Huntsville Committee of 100, presented a check for over $29,000 to HCS! This generous funding will support teachers in pursuing National Board Certification, an investment that strengthens excellence in our classrooms.

🎖️ The Lee High School JROTC General Battalion achieved an incredible milestone, placing 5th in the nation at the JROTC National Leadership and Academic Bowl in Washington, D.C. Competing among the top 2% of JROTC programs worldwide, their performance brought great pride to our schools and community.

HCS invites community members, alumni, parents, and students to attend the Huntsville Center for Technology Open House! The event will be on Thursday, July 24, from 3-5 PM at the new career tech center located at 2603 North Memorial Parkway. Additionally, HCT will host a parent meeting at 5:30 PM for families with students in CTE programs this year.

HCS is proud to announce Angelear Warren has been officially approved by the Huntsville City Board of Education to serve as the next principal of Mountain Gap Elementary School!

April is recognized as the Month of the Military Child, a time to honor and celebrate the resilience and sacrifices of children in military families. Huntsville City Schools proudly supports our military-connected students and their families. In recognition of their strength and contributions, we invite all students, staff, and community members to participate in Purple Up Day on Friday, April 11, 2025. We encourage everyone to wear purple as a visible show of support and appreciation for our military children. Educators in HCS and community partners presented on innovative teaching practices that incorporate the arts at Tuesday night's HCS Board of Education Meeting! HCS recognizes art has the power to transform, illuminate, educate, inspire, and motivate students!

Over 50 colleges will be represented at the ALACRAO College Fair! The event will be on Aug. 28 at 6 PM at the Jaycee Building at John Hunt Park!

Did you know that Huntsville City Schools offers a Career Tech Class in Industrial Maintenance? Thanks to Driving Possibilities and Toyota Alabama for providing the funding for the machines and curriculum to make this a reality for our students!
